Marshall McIntosh is a clone (sport) of the McIntosh variety. It is distinguished from the parent variety by the deep red color of the fruits and an earlier ripening period, by 3–10 days. The flavor characteristics and flesh structure correspond to the original McIntosh variety; the fruits are intended for fresh consumption.
In pomological literature, there are rare mentions of old local varieties, such as Marshall’s Sweet or Marshall Red, which do not have wide distribution. Mentions of a "Marshall" variety with June fruiting and large berries are erroneously linked to the apple tree, as this description refers to the garden strawberry crop.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
