The variety is characterized by a high essential oil content, with about 50% menthol in its composition and low levels of pulegone and carvone. The plant is propagated vegetatively using root suckers; the flowering period lasts from July to September.
Agronomic practices involve two cuttings: the first at the beginning of flowering, the second at the end of September or the beginning of October. To obtain essential oil, the plant raw material is ground before the distillation process. The variety is used as a medicinal agent with antispasmodic and carminative effects.
