The Lezzo variety is common in the vicinity of Lake Garda. It is used in blends for olive oils with protected designation of origin, such as Garda DOP.
In the scientific community, the variety is known as a genetic standard, on the basis of which SSR markers are developed for the identification and study of the genetic diversity of other olive varieties.
