The MEGAREITIKI variety (synonym Megaritiki, Megaron) is dual-purpose and is grown primarily in the regions of Attica, Corinthia, Boeotia, Euboea, and Argolis. The fruits have an oval shape and an average weight of 2 to 5 grams; the harvest takes place in November–December.
The oil of this variety has a balanced taste with fruity notes and a high content of antioxidants. Table olives are used in salted or pickled form, and fully mature fruits are prepared using the dry salting method.
The tree is distinguished by its hardiness and good adaptation to the Mediterranean climate. The variety is successfully cultivated under rain-fed conditions without the need for regular irrigation.
