Variety description

10 August 2026

The term was historically used in the agronomic tradition to describe valuable local populations, which led to regional variability. Depending on the geography, different genetic forms may be hidden under this name, such as the Casaliva variety in the Lake Garda area, as well as various local types in Tuscany and Liguria.

Due to the lack of a unified biological status, the specific morphological characteristics of the plant depend on the regional clone. The main common trait of all plants designated by this epithet is the production of high-quality oil; however, resistance to diseases and climatic conditions varies depending on the varietal affiliation of the specific specimen.
