Olivo di Mandanici, also known as Calabrese, is an oil variety traditionally distributed in the provinces of Messina and Catania in Sicily, as well as in Calabria. Trees of this variety are distinguished by high growth vigor and the ability to produce constant yields with an early flowering period.

The variety is adapted to growing in sandy and calcareous soils, as well as to water deficit conditions, exhibiting specific physiological mechanisms for maintaining leaf water status. The fruits of the plant are small and are used for the production of extra virgin oil with high chemical indicators.

Due to its high growth vigor, the variety is considered less suitable for super-high-density planting systems compared to less vigorous genotypes. The variety was identified and selected from the region's natural genetic diversity during research on biodiversity conservation.
