Susiña is an ancient local olive tree variety identified during field research aimed at finding and preserving ancient genotypes. The variety was identified through molecular and botanical analysis, which confirmed its genetic distinctiveness from other Galician varieties.

Currently, the variety is characterized as low-yielding, with trees producing very few fruits. Due to its heirloom status and limited distribution, detailed agronomic descriptions, such as disease resistance indicators or organoleptic properties of the oil, are absent in publications.
