The variety is a local genetic heritage of Portugal. Research using RAPD markers distinguishes this variety into a separate genetic group.
Phenologically, the variety is distinguished by a late fruit ripening period. In comparative trials, high flowering intensity was recorded, exceeding a number of other studied varieties.
