The variety is local to the Vallecorsa area in the Frosinone province and is historically linked to the traditional terrace farming system on stone terraces. The trees are often centuries-old and well-adapted to the conditions of their growing region.
The fruits are used primarily for obtaining oil, which possesses distinct organoleptic qualities with notes of artichoke, thistle, and tomato. A high concentration of polyphenols ensures storage stability for the finished product.
Harvesting is usually carried out in the period from 15 October to 15 November. At this time, about 80% of the fruits retain a green color, which allows for obtaining a product with an intense taste. In some regional lists, the variety may be mentioned as a close variant of the Olivella olive.
