The variety is intended for food groat use. It possesses technological qualities suitable for processing into groats and often appears in scientific literature as a classic sample in the study of genetic resources of the global millet collection.

In breeding work, the variety was used as a parental form for the development of new hybrids and varieties, such as Shortandinskoje 10.
