The KB1 rootstock is used for grafting cultivated avocado varieties, in particular the Hass variety. It promotes rapid canopy development, early tree bearing, and increased fruit size, which helps to compensate for factors affecting fruit size reduction.

The root system is characterized by vigorous growth of lateral roots. The plant has resistance to soil salinity, but under experimental conditions, it shows susceptibility to Phytophthora. External features include an anise scent of the leaves, red growth points and young leaves, as well as large horizontal lenticels on the bark of mature branches and the trunk.
