The variety is a clonal rootstock that was selected from seedlings of the Fuerte variety. Its main purpose is to increase the survival and productivity of grafted trees, in particular the Hass variety, in difficult soil conditions. The rootstock is characterized by high vigor and the ability to develop a large canopy volume.

Key features of the variety are high tolerance to root rot caused by Phytophthora cinnamomi and resistance to saline soils, as well as irrigation with water having an increased salt content. The rootstock requires well-drained soils, as it may tolerate waterlogged conditions less well in comparison with other rootstocks.
