The "Peter" variety is a male pollinator plant used in intensive pistachio orchards. It is used for cross-pollination of female varieties and is characterized by the synchronization of its flowering period with major industrial varieties.

The plant does not produce commercial fruits (pistachios). The name "Peter 1" is erroneously applied to this variety due to confusion in the numbering of pollinators, as well as coincidence with the names of varieties of other crops, such as honeysuckle and grapes.
