The variety belongs to the pasture-fodder type and is intended for use in grass mixtures for hayfields and livestock grazing. Biological characteristics of the variety include the ability for intensive growth in spring and rapid regrowth after mowing, as well as stable yield throughout the years of use.

By mode of reproduction, it is a facultative apomict. In scientific research, the variety was used for a long time as a standard for comparing the economic and seed-growing qualities of new breeding forms. Compared to more modern varieties, it is inferior in terms of winter hardiness and seed yield.
