The variety is the result of a controlled cross between clone 'Fritzi Pauley' (Populus trichocarpa) and clone 'S.620-225' (Populus deltoides). Initially, the hybrid was intended for growing fast-producing timber in energy plantations.
A key characteristic of the variety is its high susceptibility to rust (Melampsora larici-populina). With the emergence of new aggressive pathotypes of the disease in the 1990s, the productivity and viability indicators of the stands decreased significantly.
Studies of the clone's root system revealed one of the lowest root biomasses and the shortest fine roots in comparison to a number of other hybrids. Due to phytosanitary problems, the use of the variety for commercial purposes and for the establishment of short-rotation plantations is limited.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
