The variety is the result of a breeding program at the National Institute of Agricultural Research of Tunisia and belongs to early maturity groups, ripening ahead of the Canino variety. The plant is characterized by self-compatibility and is often used as a reference when describing morphological traits.

The fruit of this variety is classified as small, with a weight in the range of 31–40 g. The apricot is intended primarily for fresh consumption and requires 400 to 750 chill hours for successful development.
