Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety Screara is used in breeding as a parental component for creating new varieties. It is used as a model organism for studying the interaction between the plant and Plum pox virus. The variety is susceptible to this virus, which allows it to be used for comparison with resistant genotypes.

The variety is productive, with yields reaching up to 40 kg per tree. The fruits have orange flesh but are prone to rapid softening and browning. During agrotechnical operations, grafting incompatibility is observed with some plum and peach rootstocks, manifesting as weakness at the graft union.
