The Cătălina variety belongs to early sweet cherry varieties. The fruits have an average weight and are characterized by a high concentration of dry matter. The trees are distinguished by early flowering and have been studied for precocity and adaptability in various climatic conditions.
The Katalin variety of Hungarian breeding ripens in mid-late periods. The trees are of medium vigor, reaching 4 meters, with a raised, flat-round crown. The fruits are large, weighing 8–10 g, dark burgundy in color with firm, cartilaginous flesh, and have a sweet taste with a hint of acidity.
Katalin is characterized by frost resistance and good resistance to fruit cracking, while disease resistance is rated as medium. The variety is partially self-fertile; for a stable yield, the presence of pollinator varieties is recommended.
