Variety description

10 August 2026

The Charger rootstock belongs to the species Prunus avium and is characterized by intermediate vigor, exceeding the performance of some other rootstocks. It is not dwarf and does not provide significant control over tree height or acceleration of the onset of fruiting.

The plant possesses marked resistance to bacterial canker, but is susceptible to bacterial root rot. The rootstock is valued for its ease of propagation in stoolbeds, but in modern practice, it is rarely used as a primary choice due to its insufficient effect on restricting scion growth.
