The most studied representative is Ciliegia Bianca di Verona, obtained from the crossing of Durone di Vignola and Morella di Cazzano. This variety matures late, around June 30, has large spheroidal fruits with intensely yellow skin and firm creamy-white flesh. The tree is self-sterile and requires Bigarreau Moreau or Durona 1 as pollinators, and the fruits are suitable for mechanized harvesting.
Other varieties, such as Bianca del Piemonte, are characterized by a limited range, moderate growth vigor, and a spreading crown. Local forms from other regions often have juicy flesh and a dessert taste with a possible bitter aftertaste, and are traditionally used for preservation in alcohol or boiling in wine.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
