The variety is a seedling of the 'Zuccaro' variety and was selected in the Bisceglie area (Apulia region, Italy) in the early 20th century. The tree is characterized by high vigor and a spreading crown shape. The variety is self-fertile and does not require specific agrotechnical conditions for cultivation.
Fruits are medium-sized, weighing 6–7.5 g, heart-shaped with dark red skin. The flesh is red, very firm, sweet-tasting, and semi-freestone. Fruit ripening occurs in the third decade of May to the first decade of June with late tree flowering.
