The variety is local to the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and has been known since the late 19th century. The tree is of medium vigor, flowering occurs in the second ten-day period of April, and harvesting falls in the third ten-day period of June.

The medium-small sized fruits have a heart shape and a dark red, rather thick skin with a waxy bloom. The flesh is firm, sweet, and dark red, with a small pit that does not separate well.

The variety is characterized by consistent fruiting and high yield. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption and various types of processing, including jam making, baking, and preservation in alcohol.
