The breeding line was developed by the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) in Bordeaux. The rootstock provides high uniformity of trees in the orchard and has good compatibility with most cherry varieties. Seeds are produced under control and have virus-free status.

In terms of vigor, the rootstock surpasses the well-known analogue F12-1. In the orchard, it forms a moderate or small amount of root suckers. The plant possesses tolerance to bacterial canker and resistance to Agrobacterium, which causes crown gall.
