The variety belongs to traditional local cultivars of Italian origin. It is not an industrial breeding achievement and is considered in the context of preserving the biodiversity of old crops.

A distinctive characteristic of the fruits is their coloration: they retain a yellowish-ochre shade upon ripening. Due to the absence of red color, the fruits may remain untouched by birds that wait for the color of berries familiar to them.
