Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a traditional local (autochthonous) Italian variety found in lists of crops characteristic of the Umbria, Campania, and Tuscany regions. It was historically grown in private gardens.

The name of the variety comes from the Italian word maggio, which indicates the early ripening period of the fruits in May. Detailed agronomic characteristics, such as precise tree height, yield, and fruit parameters, are absent in scientific literature due to the fact that the variety is not commercial.
