The variety is a vigorous tree, reaching 5–7, sometimes 10 meters in height, with a broad, spherical, spreading crown. The variety belongs to the Bigarreau group, characterized by a late ripening period and entering into fruit-bearing 4–5 years after planting.
Fruits are large, with a mass of 6.0–6.5 g, elongated-oval or broadly heart-shaped. Depending on the type, the skin is dark red or yellow with a red blush. The flesh is firm and crunchy, the taste is sweet with a slight acidity. The fruits tolerate transportation well.
The plant possesses moderate winter hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -20...-30 °C. The variety is self-incompatible; pollinators are necessary for fruit set. In literature, various variations may be encountered under this name, such as 'Napoleon chernaya' and 'Napoleon rozovaya'.
