The Rivers Early variety (also known as Early Rivers, Rivers Frühe, and Vroege Duitse) is a vigorous tree 6 to 10 meters in height with a dense ovoid crown. The fruit ripening period occurs in the second half of May or June, depending on climatic conditions.
The fruits of the variety have a spherical shape and turn dark red, almost black, upon ripening. The flesh is characterized by juiciness, a sweet taste, a pleasant aroma, and a small, easily separable stone. The variety is self-incompatible and requires pollinators such as Merton Glory or Noir de Guben.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
