The variety was bred at the Balsgard breeding station in Sweden. The tree is characterized by moderate growth and a rounded crown with stiff, upward-directed branches. The variety is self-sterile and needs pollinators that bloom at similar times.

Fruits are medium-sized, heart-shaped, and acquire a dark red, almost black color with a shine upon full ripening. The flesh is soft and juicy; the taste is sweet or sweet-and-sour. The variety possesses sufficient winter hardiness and good resistance of flowers to spring frosts.

Harvest ripening occurs at the end of May – beginning of June. The fruits are suitable for both fresh consumption and home cooking.
