The fruits are large, broad-heart-shaped with a visible suture. Upon ripening, the skin changes color from light to black-brown. The flesh is firm, cartilaginous and juicy; the fruits have a sweet taste with low acidity and good transportability.
The trees reach medium to large sizes. The variety is late-maturing, with ripening occurring in July. The plant requires warm, sheltered locations for cultivation, shows sensitivity to fruit cracking under excess moisture, and is susceptible to Monilinia.
The variety has a universal purpose, suitable for fresh consumption, canning, and culinary use. Due to the firmness of the flesh and keeping quality, it was traditionally used in commercial orcharding.
1 jurisdiction
