The variety Alexton was bred at the Institute of Agriculture in Kyustendil, Bulgaria. Genetically, it is the result of crossing the 'Van' and 'Stella' varieties. It is considered promising for industrial production, including due to characteristics suitable for mechanized harvesting.
The fruits of the variety are characterized as large. According to the results of studies on mechanical properties, they possess good or very good transportability and resistance to mechanical pressure. The variety is included in scientific research on susceptibility to pests, in particular to the cherry fruit fly.
