The variety was developed within the breeding program of the University of Hohenheim. The fruits are distinguished by a balanced acid content and a high level of fructose in the flesh.

The variety is used as a genetic source in studies of resistance to Plum pox virus. In breeding, it is used to improve the flavor qualities of the offspring.
