The variety is one of the latest, with fruits ripening in late August or early September. They are characterized by an oval shape, large size, dark purple, almost black skin, and juicy sweet yellowish-green flesh. The stone is semi-freestone.
The plant has ivory-colored flowers and is self-pollinating. The variety is sufficiently resistant to cold; however, early flowering makes it vulnerable to spring frosts. Sensitivity to water stress and susceptibility to leaf curl when the tree is weakened may occur.
The variety may be synonymous with the Real de Calahorra variety. Fruits are used fresh and are also suitable for drying. Characteristics may vary depending on growing conditions and the rootstock used, for which myrobalan is often employed.
