The plant forms a vigorous, semi-upright tree up to 5 meters tall. Fruit size is intermediate between a cherry and a small plum. The skin and juicy, gelling flesh are dark red in color; sugar content is approximately 20 °Brix.
The variety is mid-season; the ripening period falls in August–September. The crop is not self-fertile, therefore, to obtain a yield, the presence of pollinator varieties nearby is required, for which other varieties of Japanese plum are recommended.
