The Tulare Giant variety is an early plum variety derived from crossing the Empress and Primacotes varieties. The trees are characterized by vigorous growth and high precocity, producing a large number of flowers and setting fruit on both one-year-old wood and older spurs.
The fruits are distinguished by their large size, dark purple color, and the presence of a grayish waxy bloom. The variety is self-incompatible; the Muir Beauty variety is recommended for pollination. The crop requires regular pruning and fruit thinning to achieve the necessary taste qualities and is sensitive to the choice of rootstock.
