The Ulpiya variety was bred as a result of a breeding program launched in 1987 at the Institute of Fruit Growing in Plovdiv. The fruits have an elliptical shape, and their taste qualities are rated as high.
The plant possesses resistance to Plum pox virus. The variety ripens earlier than the standard Stanley variety, which allows for extending the period of supplying fresh produce to the market.
