The variety belongs to the late-flowering group, with fruits maturing in September–October. Conflicting data regarding the pollination type are found in the literature: the variety is classified as self-sterile, although a number of scientific publications examine issues of its self-compatibility.

This cultivar is of ancient origin and is the result of folk selection. The fruits are used in dried form and as raw material for the production of confectionery, including nougat and marzipan. The variety has been studied as a promising one for industrial cultivation in Italy.
