The Fascionello variety is an ancient indigenous variety of the Sicily region, Italy. The fruits are characterized by an intense aroma, sweet taste, and high oil content; they are more rounded in shape than the Pizzuta variety.
The plant is an early-flowering and self-incompatible variety requiring the presence of pollinator varieties. The variety is not intended for intensive industrial production, as it requires specific terroir conditions.
In the confectionery sector, it is valued for its organoleptic properties and is used in the preparation of marzipan, creams, gelato, and traditional sweets.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
