Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and a spreading habit. The variety name is due to the specific downward orientation of the flowers. The variety is adapted to dry, windy conditions and prefers light calcareous or sandy loam soils. The harvest period falls in September-October.

The fruits have a very hard shell. The kernel is small, weighing about 1.0 g, oblong in shape with a wrinkled surface, and is characterized by a minimal content of double kernels. The variety is self-sterile and is used in cooking, particularly for the production of nougat and baked goods.

The plant exhibits relative resistance to spring frosts due to its late flowering and flower position. At the same time, sensitivity to almond rust Tranzschelia pruni-spinosae is noted.
