The variety is a chance seedling, historically widespread in France, particularly on the Valensole plateau. Trees are characterized by a high chilling requirement.

The fruits of the variety are prone to forming a large number of double kernels. The plant is used in breeding programs, for example, to study the transmission of the self-compatibility trait.
