Variety description

The rootstock was obtained by selecting forms of the wild species Prunus mahaleb. It is characterized as vigorous, providing about 80–90% of the growth vigor of wild cherry, and facilitates early entry into bearing for grafted trees with high yields.

The plant is excellently adapted to calcareous, dry, and fertile soils with good drainage, but it does not tolerate heavy clay soils and excessive moisture due to the risk of root asphyxia. Trees on this rootstock have a well-developed root system, do not require supports, and produce practically no root suckers.

The variety is resistant to cherry replant disease but shows high susceptibility to silver leaf disease. It is compatible with most sweet and sour cherry varieties, promoting a slight acceleration in flowering and ripening times compared to sweet cherry rootstocks.
