The variety MH-KL-A is a clonal rootstock form of Mahaleb cherry, propagated by green cuttings. It is used as a rootstock for sour cherry and sweet cherry varieties, demonstrating high compatibility with scions.

Trees grown on this rootstock are characterized by restricted growth vigor and the ability to bear fruit earlier compared to seedling Mahaleb cherry rootstocks. The plant is characterized by good winter hardiness.

The main difficulties when using this rootstock include the high cost of planting material and the labor-intensive nature of the vegetative propagation process.
