The rootstock is semi-dwarfing, providing trees with 30–35% less growth vigor than St. Julien A or Brompton rootstocks. It promotes early bearing in grafted varieties and ensures stable yields.
The plant has good anchorage and does not require support. It is characterized by winter hardiness, adaptability to medium, heavy, and moderately calcareous soils, and to light soils provided there is irrigation. It shows tolerance to fire blight and European stone fruit yellows.
It is compatible with most plum and apricot varieties, although delayed incompatibility is possible with some Japanese plum varieties. It is used in intensive horticulture as a uniform alternative to seed rootstocks.
