The P-TU-3 rootstock is propagated by seeds and is characterized by vigorous tree growth. The crown is formed in a spherical shape, and branches may have a drooping habit. Due to biological characteristics, the rootstock is not intended for fruit production.

This rootstock has good anchorage and stability. It shows the best results when grown on sandy loam and light soils that have a clayey subsoil layer. It tolerates heavier and wetter growing conditions better than Prunus mahaleb.
