P-TU-1 is not a fruit crop variety, but serves as a generative rootstock for grafting cherry varieties and other stone fruit plants. This rootstock was developed for use in horticulture.

Trees grafted onto this rootstock are characterized by vigorous growth and the development of a powerful root system, which distinguishes them from trees on vegetative rootstocks.
