The Bugiardo variety is a traditional Italian autochthonous pear variety. It is distributed in various regions of the country, including Tuscany, Veneto, Apulia, Umbria, and Abruzzo, and is officially recognized as part of the agrobiodiversity of Italy.

The variety has a number of folk synonyms, such as Pero Brutto e Buono, Malvestito, and Pera Gnocca, which emphasize the contrast between the unremarkable appearance of the fruits and their taste qualities.
