Fruits of the Castell variety have a short pear shape, thin smooth skin of yellowish-green color, sometimes with a red blush. The flesh is creamy white, juicy, fragrant, with a firm crispy texture and sweet taste.
The tree of the variety is classified as small or medium-sized, but old specimens can reach a height of up to 10 meters. The plant is hardy, but demanding of the amount of winter cold and regular irrigation during the summer period, as it is sensitive to drought.
The variety is of ancient Spanish origin and is intended primarily for fresh consumption, use in home cooking, desserts, and fruit salads.
