The variety «Десертная россошанская» is a medium-sized tree with a broadly pyramidal, sparse crown and obliquely vertical branch orientation. The fruits are of medium or above-medium size, round-shaped, with smooth, dry, golden-yellow skin, often with a pink blush.

The fruit flesh is white or cream-colored, tender, very juicy, without stone cells, and is distinguished by a sweet taste. The variety is characterized by high resistance to scab and other diseases, good winter hardiness, and universal fruit usage.

There are mentions of other varieties under the name «Десертная». Foreign sources describe a form with vigorous growth, weak branching ability, drooping branches, and resistance to fire blight. A form of Crimean breeding, obtained from crossing the varieties «Бере Боск» and «Оливье де Серр», is also known.
