The variety originates from the Francavilla Fontana area of the Brindisi province, where it was traditionally grown in old orchards and arable land. Historically, the fruits were supplied to the Taranto wholesale market.
The tree is characterized by medium vigor and an open crown shape. Fruits weighing 60–80 grams have a pyriform or turbinate, often asymmetrical shape. Flowering and productivity of the variety are at a medium level.
