As a pear synonym, the variety is characterized as a medium-to-vigorous, long-lived tree. The fruits have an elongated pear shape and a weight from 200 to 350 g; the skin is greenish, turning yellow upon ripening. The flesh is white, juicy, with a characteristic aroma; the ripening period falls in early October.
As a local apple variety, Kantarka is distinguished by a high fruit flesh firmness of approximately 13.6 kg/cm² and the ability to be stored for a very long time. Trees of this variety represent valuable genetic material for breeding and organic gardening, being found primarily in old orchards.
