Pyrodwarf is a clonal rootstock obtained by crossing the varieties Old Home and Bonne Louise d'Avranches. It is intended for the formation of compact trees in intensive orchards, reaching 50–70% of the size of a tree on a seedling rootstock. The rootstock promotes early entry into fruit-bearing in the 3–4th year after planting.

The plant possesses good anchorage and does not produce root suckers. It demonstrates high winter hardiness, exceeding the levels of quince rootstocks, and tolerates soils with high pH well without causing chlorosis. The rootstock has good compatibility with all pear varieties and moderate resistance to fire blight.
